LOCATIONS

Welcome to Taste of the Pacific, a culinary gem located at the bustling Haven City Market in West Covina, CA. Specializing in authentic Filipino barbecue and shrimp dishes, this restaurant has quickly garnered attention and praise from local food enthusiasts and casual diners alike. With a straightforward menu that offers mouth-watering flavors and generous portions, Taste of the Pacific provides an inviting atmosphere to indulge in hearty, authentic meals.

The star of the menu’s offerings is undoubtedly the Smackin' Shrimp Noodles. Drenched in a heavenly garlic butter sauce, these noodles are topped with large, perfectly seasoned shrimp, merging buttery richness with savory undertones. As one customer joyfully noted, the shrimp is "soft and flavorful," making it an absolute must-try. Each bite delivers a wave of umami that speaks to the heart of Filipino cuisine.

Alongside the shrimp noodles, the Full BBQ Plate, featuring succulent grilled chicken and shrimp, stands out for its smoky BBQ flavor and tender, juicy meat. The dish’s balance of flavors—from the rich garlic butter to the well-marinated proteins—leaves diners feeling satisfied, and it is often noted that a single serving could easily serve two adults!

  • Generous Portions: Many patrons agree that the servings are hearty, making it a great spot for sharing or for meals that can last through multiple dining occasions.
  • Affable Service: Guests have highlighted the welcoming nature of the staff, with several noting the personal touch of staff recognizing returning customers. This adds to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Quick Turnaround: While the food comes with a wait time, many customers appreciate that their meals are typically served within minutes, allowing for enjoyment without too much delay.
  • Vibe and Ambience: Situated in a market with a variety of food vendors, it creates a lively environment perfect for sharing meals with friends or loved ones.

However, it’s worth noting that Taste of the Pacific’s dedication to flavor means that dishes are rich and on the heavier side, making them perhaps less suitable for those counting calories or seeking lighter fare. With prices that some may consider on the higher end, especially given the portion size, the restaurant still remains a hit for many who consider the quality of the dining experience to justify the cost.

Overall, if you find yourself in West Covina, make sure to visit Taste of the Pacific. Dive into dishes that are not just meals, but celebrations of Filipino culinary traditions. Taste of the Pacific is a Filipino style bbq and shrimp food restaurant. It's located in West Covina. They have a straight forward menu. Their Chicken BBQ x noodle combo tastes great; food portions were abundant which in my humble opinion could feed two adult humans. Staff were affable and professional. And surprisingly recognized me and complimented my grey Mustang on the parking lot. Okay, back to the review. Food was soft, flavorful and delightful. Prices seem economically fair. One thing they don't offer was drinks. Overall, I enjoyed the order experience and food. I recommend this spot.

Despite the bad reviews, I think the food and service was great! Its in the new Haven City Plaza and it had plenty of seats and parking outside. It is a nice place to vibe with friends. TLDR: Food was really good and filling but kinda really heavy. We waited only 10 mins total. FOOD: Full BBQ Plate Chicken and Shrimp (Garlic Butter) (4/5): I think the flavors were very balanced with the heaviness of the shrimp and the sauciness of the chicken. It was a little heavy but the flavors meshed well together. The rice was perfect and overall very filling. SERVICE: (5/5) I think the service was great. No problems at all - the food came out in 10 mins, the cashier was very nice, and there was not a long line (we went on a Saturday around 2pm).

A couple dear friends of mine and I were at Haven City Market West Covina (HCM WC) celebrating my birthday. They treated me lunch. Thank you my friends. Taste of the Pacific was one of the places we tried. We ordered the Smacking Shrimp Noodle. The shrimps were lightly battered and well seasoned. Lots of yellow noodles. It was so very good! Portion was good size. I would order this again. Staff was okay. Restaurant front is not that big. Dining space is shared with all the other food vendors. They open around noon time. Try to get here a little early to be the first ones in line because there will be a line. Trust me on this one. They get super busy. It's probably one of the busiest food vendor at HCM WC. Their menu is not very big, but I'll be back to try their other food items.

This popular food stall is located along the back wall of Haven City. The stall often has a long line waiting to order and waiting for their food. The menu isn't extensive so you know that their specialty is that good. The dishes I've tried were delicious and packed with flavor. However, the food is not for the health conscious because of the amount of butter and salt they use. Smackin' Shrimp Noodles w/ garlic butter ($18) - This plate has 6 pieces of large shrimp on a huge bed of garlic butter noodles. The dish is packed with umami and the noodles leave a pool of butter at the bottom of the container. Smackin' Chicken Plate w/ garlic butter ($25) - The chicken was perfectly grilled and infused with the smoky BBQ flavor. The dish also comes with 6 pieces of large shrimp. We only had this with extra rice because they were out of mac salad. Each time I've been here, the wait for my dish was anywhere between 25-40 minutes. I recommend placing your order here first and then venturing to other stalls.

Was walking around to see what food to try and saw this long line to order food here. First thing that popped into my mind was that this must be very popular. So I got in line to try out their food. I love Fillipino foods, so this was perfect. After about almost 20 minutes waiting in line, finally got to the counter to order. I ordered the Smackin' Shrimp Noodles with Garlic Butter Sauce. It came with 6 pieces of shrimp on a bed of noodles. It was so good! The shrimp was soft and flavorful. The noodle was very tasty with the right amount of garlic butter. I would definitely come back here again to try their other items.

BOMB!! One of my wife and I's favorite Filipino spots now. We tried them back in the summer during the preview of the Haven City West Covina event and it was sooo good back then as well. The service wasn't too long the other 2x we've gone during the current soft opening period. We really enjoy their style of filipino BBQ. Their food is mouth-watering and they live up to the hype! You can't go wrong with whatever you order from here. Personal favorites are the smackin' shrimp and beef with the garlic noodles!. The price tag is up there but it's worth every dollar! The portions are generous and the plates are good for sharing or lasts for multiple meals. They usually have one of the longest lines in the market and that is because they are legit! Next time we come by we're gonna try the Trio Combo! Thanks Taste of the Pacific! Keep up the good vibes!

Visited the location at Haven City Market and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Smackin' Chicken Plate ($25) which comes with 6 pieces of fried shrimp and some bbq chicken, and 3 scoops of rice. The good: The food is really tasty. The shrimp is large, battered and fried and comes coated in a sauce of your choice - I picked the Smackin' sauce. Chicken was tender and had a nice smoky flavor. The bad: The wait - I waited almost 30 minutes for my food. This was the first thing I placed an order for and the last thing that i picked up. I can't figure out why they are so slow! The prices - really expensive for what I got. My husband was appalled when I told him how much I spent on the chicken plate. If you're rolling in dough and have a lot of time to wait, you will enjoy the food here.
